EAA Chapter Ten-83 Supporting all Recreational Aviation

Sectionals & WAC's
This page Shows the choices of  VFR Charts and Directories -- Sectionals, VFR Terminal Area, World Aeronautical Charts and Airport/Facility Directory

VFR Sectional ChartsSectional Aeronautical Charts are designed for visual navigation of slow to medium speed aircraft.  The topographic information featured consists of a judicious selection of visual checkpoints used for flight under Visual Flight Rules (VFR).  The checkpoints include populated places, drainage patterns, roads, railroads, and other distinctive landmarks.  The aeronautical information on Sectional Charts includes visual and radio aids to navigation, airports, controlled airspace, restricted areas, obstructions, and related data.  Revised semi-annually (except for Grand Canyon)

VFR Terminal Area Charts depict the airspace designated as Class B airspace. The information found on these charts, while similar to that found on Sectional Charts, is shown in much more detail because of the larger scale. These charts should be used by pilots intending to operate from airfields within or near Class B airspace or Class C airspace.  EAA Chapter 1083 Member Price $4.75

World Aeronautical Charts cover land areas at a standard size and scale for navigation by moderate speed aircraft and aircraft operating at high altitudes. The topographical information includes city tints, principal roads, railroads, distinctive landmarks, drainage patterns and relief. The aeronautical information includes visual and radio aids to navigation, airports, airways, restricted areas, obstructions and other pertinent data. Because of their smaller scale, these charts do not show as much detailed information as appears on the Sectional and Terminal Area Charts. For example, Class D and Class E airspace and the limits of controlled airspace are not shown. Because some information is not shown, World Aeronaeutical are rvised and updated annually, except for a few in Alaska, Mexico and the Caribbean, which are revised biennially.

Airport/Facility Directory  is a pilot's manual that contains data on public use and joint use airports, seaplane bases heliports, VFR airport sketches, NAVAIDs, communications data, weather data sources, airspace, special notices, and operational procedures. The seven volumes cover the conterminous United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. The Airport/Facility Directory includes data that cannot be readily depicted in graphic form: e.g., airport hours of operation, types of fuel available, runway data, lighting codes, etc. The Airport/Facility Directory also provides a means for pilots to update visual navigation charts between editions dates; i.e., the Airport/Facility Directory is published every 56 days while the VFR Sectional and Terminal Area Charts are generally revised every six months. Volumes are side-bound 5-3/8 x 8-1/4 inches.
